A childhood filled with wonder, nurtured by nature and
rooted in love.

Our Approach

At Kingwood Children, we believe childhood should be filled with curiosity, connection and the freedom to explore. We offer nurturing, thoughtfully prepared environments where children are encouraged to learn through play, build meaningful relationships and develop a lasting connection with the natural world.

Our approach is rooted in care, play and growth. From the little everyday moments to the adventures that take us outdoors, we give children the time, space and support to discover the world around them, grow in confidence and flourish in their own unique way.

Exploring textures, strengthening little hands and developing fine motor skills through sensory play.

A place to feel at home

A warm, welcoming environment where little ones feel safe, settled and free to be themselves.

Thoughtfully created spaces, familiar faces and nurturing relationships help children feel a sense of belonging, giving them the confidence to explore, play and discover the world around them.

“Kingwood Children is a fantastic nursery, and I cannot recommend them enough. My three children have each attended from 10/11 months old. I have not yet met a member of staff who does not go above and beyond for all of the children in the setting.

They are enthusiastic, passionate, nurturing and always happy to help. My children have developed such secure bonds, not only with their key workers, but with the whole Kingwood team. They have also established wonderful relationships with their peers. The kitchen team are amazing! The menus are diverse, fun, creative and definitely get a huge thumbs up from my littlees, who are normally first in line for seconds. I love the teaching methods. So much effort goes into planning innovative and exciting activities for the children, which are often led by the interests of the group.

I also love that my children get so many opportunities to explore the outdoors as part of their learning environment, which is much needed for my active three! The additional events planned throughout the year are also a lovely touch. Kingwood is so much more than a nursery, it really is like a community, filling the little ones up with love and support. My three have flourished during their time here and will leave with the confidence, curiosity and independence required to thrive at school. Thank you!!”

“I have lots to say about Kingwood and how I’m so grateful that I get to send my son here, also looking forward for my daughter to start in June. This nursery has a friendly and welcoming environment. The staff are caring, hardworking, and friendly. Every member of staff communicates well with the parents.

The creative curriculum is what appealed to me so much when I was looking for a nursery. They use active learning through play and discovery. Kingwood provides a great opportunity for the children to make friends and socialise with other children also, their regular trips to the local care home are so wonderful to see them interact and learn from older ones.

Kingwood helps children achieve their early years milestones and updates parents on their progress with regular reports. Jack has come leaps and bounds since joining Kingwood, and I’m so happy that they are a part of his development and put such care into the little boy he’s becoming. I feel they do just what we as parents do at home, and I look forward to the rest of his years with them and my daughter.”

“Our children have truly thrived since joining Kingwood. What makes it so special is the way the natural environment and everyday experiences are woven into their learning. The opportunities to explore, connect with nature and develop physical skills and confidence are something we value enormously. It offers an experience that feels so much richer than a traditional nursery environment.

We have also always felt incredibly supported by the team. When our three-year-old went through a difficult patch with drop-offs, the response was immediate and thoughtful. After speaking with the SENCO, a tailored plan was put in place by the very next day. Within just a few days, we could already see a difference. He felt settled, happy and comfortable again, thanks to the patience and care of the team around him.

That level of communication and support has been consistent throughout our time at Kingwood. Whether speaking with management or our children's room teams, we have always felt listened to, kept informed and able to reach out whenever we needed to. Knowing our children are so well cared for and supported gives us enormous confidence and reassurance as parents.”

“Kingwood Children offers an experience unlike any other. The beautiful rural setting gives children daily opportunities to explore the farm, care for animals, discover the woodland and develop a real connection with the natural world.

My child has foraged for natural materials, searched for insects, taken part in outdoor cooking and food preparation, cared for baby animals and explored the woodland. These experiences have nurtured a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around him that I am confident will stay with him for life.

The staff are exceptionally warm, caring and genuinely invested in the children. There is a wonderful sense of community, and the interactions I have witnessed between the team and children have always been kind and nurturing.

My son has grown in confidence, curiosity and love of the outdoors in ways I attribute directly to the environment and experiences Kingwood has so thoughtfully created. It is a truly special place, and I feel incredibly fortunate that he has had the opportunity to spend his early years here.”

  • Tom (Dad)

“You offer a totally unique setting at Kingwood and it was very easy for us to understand the bigger picture of the benefits of this.

When we first arrived, Barney could not walk and had a nasal gastric tube fitted. Your team lovingly cared for him and really helped his development. To your credit, Barney is now 7, a confident, happy boy who still has a love for animals and a wicked sense of humour. His younger brother Dennis follows closely in his footsteps.

Without the care, love and support of Kingwood, we would not have such nice and rounded children.”

  • Alex (Mum)

“Since Elijah started at Kingwood at just nine months old, I have seen such incredible progress in him. Within only a couple of weeks, I was already noticing little changes in his development, from the way he confidently used a fork when we ate out to the new skills he was picking up every day. It is wonderful to see how much he has grown, and even more so to see how happy he is when he arrives each morning.

The team are so nurturing and genuinely care about the children. Every member of staff puts so much into making sure the little ones feel happy, supported and encouraged to thrive.

I also love the natural, open environment and the freedom children are given to explore. Whether it is animals, insects, water or the world around them, there are so many opportunities to learn through real-life experiences and play.

Elijah is growing into such a confident, strong and independent little boy, while my daughter is developing important life skills that I know will stay with her. I truly believe these everyday experiences are such an important part of childhood, and I am so grateful for everything the team do.”

“Before coming to Kingwood, Dante struggled so much. He was an unseen child who was unheard and unrecognised. He was literally a little ghost.

Coming to Kingwood helped him come out of his shell. The team have helped him from every single room he's been in, from Willow to Maple to Oak (whom he tries to sneak to, I'm sure!). You have loved and supported him with great compassion and kindness, and guided him when he's been a little awry and cheeky. You've taken the steps needed willingly to help his extra needs. I have no words that can even touch on what wonderful, positive good has been done for Dante.

And not just him, but Lils too. The teams in Elm and Willow have cuddled and loved our little whirling dervish with absolute, honest, open hearts, whilst trying to get her to sit down for five minutes, which is no easy task! You've cuddled and comforted her when she's fallen over for the 100th time, plaited her hair when she insisted it needed to look pretty, encouraged her love of water play and laughed when she's insisted on undressing.

Not just the team on the floor either. I can never repay the amount of support the management and SENDCo team have given us. We literally do not have the words to express our gratitude and affection for all at Kingwood for what you've done for our whole family.”

  • Kirsty (Mum)

“Having worked in early years for over 20 years, finding the right setting for my daughter was both challenging and nerve-wracking. From our first visits, we were made to feel extremely welcome, and I felt that all my questions were answered.

When the time came to leave her for that first session, I was full of anxiety as her mum. However, the staff in the Elm room were so supportive and made the whole process much easier, which in turn allowed my daughter to have such a positive settling-in period.

The Elm team go above and beyond for the children in their care. Their passion, dedication and genuine love for what they do shine through in their approach, focusing each day on supporting the babies as individuals and nurturing all aspects of their development. If anything arises during the day, they are always quick to get in touch, and their communication and collaboration are something I really appreciate.

I honestly cannot imagine sending my daughter anywhere else. She is happy, thriving and so excited on the days we pack her bags for nursery.”

  • Izzy (Mum)

“Our daughter has attended Kingwood since she was just nine months old, starting in September 2024. During that time, she has absolutely thrived. The incredible staff have built such strong, loving relationships with her, supporting her development every step of the way. She has grown in confidence, made wonderful friendships, and looked forward to every day she spent there.

Kingwood is unlike any other nursery. Its outdoor ethos, the animals, the sense of community, and the nurturing environment have made it an incredibly special place for our daughter and our whole family. It is far more than just childcare. It has been a place where Iris has flourished and felt safe, valued, and happy.”

  • Liam (Dad)

“Betsy has been at Kingwood since starting in Elm. Through Willow, Maple and now in Oak, she has thrived.

Lauren and Maddie are absolutely brilliant with Betsy and we have absolutely no concerns at all leaving her in their excellent care. Betsy speaks about Oak and her Oak friends so proudly. She has been so happy and has continued to grow throughout her time at Kingwood.

We are so grateful to the team for the care, support and experiences they have given Betsy throughout her early years.”
